Our club– Valley Radio Club of Oregon, just finished a bulk Ferrite purchase of 85, FT240-31 devices. We found them for 5.35 each, which included shipping from https://proaudioeng.com/. The owner is a ham as well.

These little devices will help remove a lot of in shack RFI… They are also great for building balun devices as well.

    Hello Dave,
I have used these for removing RFI in my microphone audio lines between the external equalizer and transceiver. Inexpensive and effective! πŸ™‚

    Hi Michael,
Good to meet you! Hope to see you at SeaPac! Try a few on your antenna feedline at the feedpoint. If you have common mode, this will help. A friend lost two S-Units of noise by just inserting a eleven turn choke at the feedpoint of his OCF dipole. OCF dipoles are notorious for CM problems. I have a talk coming up in Portland in the 18th on how using Ferrite material can quiet down a station.

    Hello Dave,
While I haven’t had the need to use the method described on my home station, my mobile is different beast. I had issues with the brushes within my electric fuel pump where the interface harness was acting as a nice noise radiator.
I used both a ferrite choke and an inline EMI filter to resolve my HF noise issues. That was a long process to resolve. πŸ™‚

You are a lucky man… I have had zero luck removing ignition noise from my 2005 Tahoe. I have a low band rig in it, and when the engine is running, with the NB in line, I can use it, but it would be far far better if I could remove the ignition rfi… I have added clamp ons to each spark plug wire, but the engine has a coil for each plug… On the plug end of the cable… I am sure that once I beat the RFI in the truck down, another source will pop up… πŸ™‚ If I used the truck more, I’d be more serious about removing the RFI from it.

      Hello Dan,
The theme is called colormag pro. I then went in and changed it for a dark approach to reduce eye strain caused by the extreme white displays. The color pallet then was adjusted to remove all reds and greens using various tones of blue give the theme a tri-color base pallet. This is meant to help those who may have various versions of color blindness.

The fun part is that all the work was done on a Google Pixelbook which is a ChromeOS based unit that I can run full Linux on. The display resolution on this chromebook is the best of any of my computers making it a great graphics computer. The graphics and images were built and compiled using the open source software call gimp.

I use a LOT of those 2 inch ferrites here, basically on all the feedlines entering the shack. Great investment.

A good chart for wrapping FT240- 31 and 43 is located at:

    http://www.karinya.net/g3txq/chokes/

I would grab it, as I believe he passed a few months ago, and I have no idea if his web site will remain…
